Pastors Appreciation Week at Breakthrough

As it’s been announced, October is Pastors Appreciation Month. Simply stated, it’s a time that congregations all over the world take to say THANK YOU to our leaders whom God has appointed to shepherd and watch over our lives.

Here at Breakthrough Church, we have chosen to bless Pastor Jason & Andrea with a week of fun events & activities we’ve entitled “Seven Days of Blessings”. The dates are Sunday, Oct 11 – Saturday, Oct 17. The plan is to have a festive, celebratory potluck breakfast at church on Sunday morning, Oct 11 at 9:30am followed by morning worship service with more blessings. The rest of the week Sunday evening, Oct 11 – Saturday evening, Oct 17 is available to you as the congregation to say thank you to Jason and Andrea on a personal level in any way you and your family choose. Besides shepherding us, Pastor Jason & Andrea both work outside the home and parent three small children. Their plates are very full.

Pray & ask God what you can personally do to bless them. Anything you can think of to help lift a burden, help relieve a stress, I know they would be so very blessed.

They are currently fixing up the house to put it on the market. When the house is sold, they will need help moving-give them an IOU for the move. They like to eat dinner between 5:30-6:30pm. He loves spicy foods, the rest of the family not so much. Pastor Jason is open most days that week for lunch if you’d like to take him out or you can prepare lunch for him or Andrea (Andrea gets a very short time for lunch, so that may be a great idea for her) and drop it off the night before. They eat breakfast around 6:30am in the morning if you choose to take breakfast over you could do it the night before & they can pop it in the oven that morning. Every evening is open for dinner, movies, going over to clean the house, washing & cleaning out their vehicles, filling their vehicles with a tank of gas, the list can go on & on. Listed below are some other ideas I found online.

When you’ve decided what you will do & what day or time of day you want, please let me know. The sooner you do this the better chance you’ll have of getting the time & date you want. When the list is ready, we will pass it on to Pastor Jason & Andrea so that they will know what to expect each day. Sounds like fun to me!!

This is a huge undertaking and one, two, nor three people can get it done. We need your help. First of all, please add this to your prayer list that God would bless and anoint everything that is being planned to bless His son & daughter. We want only His heart in this. Also, we need workers in many areas. Those are listed below.

We will provide more details as they are worked out. For now, pray & allow Holy Spirit to speak to your heart as to how you will participate with Him in blessing this family. God bless you and let me hear from you soon!

More ideas for giving:

Here are some ideas to show your appreciation for your Pastor:
· Everyone has a favorite homemade dessert. Do you know your Pastor's favorite?
· If your Pastor has children offer to baby-sit. You can give them a FREE voucher to redeem within 24 hours notice.
· Wash the Pastor's car. And if he has a wife then wash her car too. Don't forget to fill the car with gas while you have it.
· Purchase a Gift Certificate for you favorite five star restaurant and leave it in the Pastor's Church Mailbox. It is nice to "take" the Pastor and his wife with you for dinner too but sometimes I think they might like a private romantic dinner. They may not otherwise be able to afford such an extravagant evening. Of course they would appreciate even a McDonald's gift certificate.
· How about taking the Pastor to the clothing store where you get your suits and have him fitted for a brand new suit. Don't forget the shirt, tie, shoes and socks. If you can't afford that then maybe just a new tie might be nice. You might consider giving it as a gift from your Sunday School or Bible Study group.
· You can make a gift basket with a "theme". Maybe Gardening or Bookworm themes. Just put all different and yet related items to the theme in a nice basket.
· Symphony, Theater or Movie tickets would be a nice treat too. Don't forget Sports tickets.
· A home cooked dinner delivered with candles and a nice CD for background music.
· A gift certificate for a professional massage or even a manicure would be nice.
· Gifts don't have to be extravagant or expensive to be special. Handmade items have their own special charm. Just make sure that your gift is from the heart and they will love it no matter what it is.

Let your imagination take over!
