weekly news & reminders

Good morning saints! Breakthrough updates are as follows:
  • Thank you for your prayers for Pastor Daymond who underwent back surgery on Monday morning. The last update from Jenny said that he is resting well in their hotel room. He was released one day after surgery. They will be in Seattle a few more days. We continually speak blessings, healing and total restoration into Pastor Daymond's life.
  • Tonight, Jan 28th at 6:30 at Pastor Jason & Andrea's home - 5310 Glacier Hwy - Kick off of our new Bible Study. We will enjoy a time of fellowship, which includes a potluck style meal. Please come hungry and you will be fed! Everyone invited to attend!
  • Love INC is in need of coats, boots & shoes for men, women and children. Please be sure that slightly used items donated are clean and ready to pass on. Other needs are pots and pans in good usable condition. If you can donate any of these items, you can bring to church on Sunday & we'll get them to Love INC.
  • AK Women's Expo - "Something for Every Woman" - This Saturday Jan 30, 10am - 5pm - free admission and door prizes - Centennial Hall - Catered by Abby's Kitchen - Sponsored by Bartlett Regional Hospital & Bauer & Associates. Call 463-5704 for info.

Continue to declare that we will do the impossible in this new year and watch Him move mightily on our behalf! See you soon!

Kicking off the new Bible Study

Hi everyone,

As we announced on Sunday, we're starting a new Bible study at our house and we're starting with a celebration potluck. We are so blessed with this house and excited to see what God is going to do here.  For those who don't know or don't remember, we are also moving the church here (coming soon) into a 1400 sq. ft. out-building that we'll be converting along the way.

Where: our house (5310 Glacier Highway) -map below, but you can also get a hold of someone if you need directions.

When: 6:30 PM, Thursday
What to Bring: Andrea and I are making chicken soup and we'll also have plates, cups, silverware, and some drinks (we may need more).  You can fill in the blanks with whatever you like, just bring enough to share.

This first meeting is really about just getting together to enjoy each other (and food) so we can kick things off right. In the next weeks, we'll be talking about strengthening relationships, marriage, families, and what it means to know Jesus. For this Thursday, come hungry and be blessed.  Everyone is welcome!

See you there- multiplied blessings,

Pastor Jason

weekly reminders

Good morning! We only have a couple quick reminders today and they are as follows:

  • Today, Jan 22 at noon on the Capitol steps - Alaskans for Life rally marking the anniversary of the Supreme Court's unfortunate ruling to legalize abortion on Jan 22, 1973.
  • Pastor Daymond and Jenny leave on Sunday morning and will be gone for about a week. Pastor will undergo back surgery on Monday, Jan 25. Please remember to pray for his (and Jenny's) strength, for the doctors performing the surgery and that this procedure will release a greater victory for Pastor to walk into.

Weekly happenings

Good morning saints! Please excuse the lateness of the updates for this week. They are as follows:

  • We continue to thank God for the blessing of the new home for Pastor Jason, Andrea and the children. They are still in the process of moving boxes from storage, unpacking and setting up. If you can be of any assistance to them, give them a call at the home 789-2634 or their cells-723-5667 or 321-0007.
  • Today is Pastor Daymond's birthday!! Tomorrow morning, Sunday Jan 17 at 10am you're invited to coffee, snacks, pastries as we celebrate his special day! You are welcome to bless him with cards or in any way you choose.
  • Please remember Jesse in prayer as he travels home from Belgium this week.
  • AARP Day in Juneau today, Jan 16 at the Centennial Hall at 10am. Tons of useful information on retiring, and benefits of crossing over to the big 5o & beyond!
  • Monday Jan 18 is Dr. Martin Luther King Day. An event is planned by the Black Awareness Association of Juneau at St Paul's Catholic Church at 2pm. The day is called A Day of Service. We have chosen to service by giving the opportunity for those who will attend to give monetary contributions to Love INC for the sole purpose of providing clothes to the children in need in our community. Also, a video, "MLK: A Historical Perspective" will be shown. Everyone is invited to attend. There is no fee.
  • Breakthrough Church, our declaration for the new year is WE WILL DO THE IMPOSSIBLE IN 2010! Keep declaring it and watch our faithful, faithful God perform miracles way beyond our wildest dreams!! See you soon!

"Project Homeless Connect" needs volunteers

Volunteers Needed for Project Homeless Connect
Juneau social service agencies and businesses are coming together to help solve homelessness, and they're looking for volunteers.

On January 25, Centennial Hall will be transformed into a one-stop shop where people experiencing homelessness can find services to help make their lives more comfortable.

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop event designed to connect homeless people with support services - such as employment, housing, medical, dental and vision screening, mental health and substance abuse services, and legal help - as well as "perks" like haircuts, massage, foot care, and more.

The event's sponsor, the Juneau Homeless Coalition, is seeking volunteers who can provide some of these services.

Four kinds of volunteers are needed: 1) agencies to set up a table at the event to provide services and information that would help homeless individuals learn more about what's available in the community - like employment, housing and food; 2) medical providers who can provide health screenings and services (for homeless individuals and their pets); 3) people who can provide haircuts, massages, etc.; and 4) hospitality volunteers who can greet individuals as they come in the door, serve food and be runners.

Prospective volunteers should contact coordinator Allen Hulett at 780-3041 for more information on how they can volunteer.

This week's announcements

  • Congratulations to Pastor Jason, Andrea, Noah, Wesley & Alicia! They have closed on the new home and get the keys today (Friday) at noon! YAY!!!!!!
  • Pastor Jason says the first thing they want to do is clean. At this point, they have no clue where their cleaning supplies are. So, if you want to help out in this first phase of the move, you would have to bring cleaning supplies with you and you can come over anytime after 2pm today, Jan 8. He will be packing up the u-haul later on that day. So, please give Pastor Jason 723-5667 or Andrea 321-0007 a call. They will have something for you to do.
  • Also, if you will be helping with the move on Friday night, please let Pastor Jason or Andrea know, so that there will be enough pizza for everyone for dinner. Thank you Breakthrough for blessing our pastors in anyway possible to get their new home set up this weekend.
  • As announced on Sunday, we will have visiting pastors, John & Saucy Thompson with us on Sunday. Please come ready to receive what God will be saying to us. Please invite family & friends to come & be blessed.
  • If you were not in service on last Sunday, God spoke some awesome things to us through Pastor Jason for this New Year 2010. The message is posted on the church website and you are encouraged to take a listen. You will be blessed.
  • Stay tuned for what is to come as we prepare to begin small groups in the next few weeks.
  • One last thing - FOR SALE to good homes - three 8-week old female lab/rottweilers. Call 957-0771 if interested.

We thank God for His tremendous committment & faithfulness to each one of us! He loves us more that we could every know! May He bless you and see you this weekend!

A Job Opportunity

Andrea had passed this along and I wanted to see if anyone in the church might be interested in this position in the Juneau school district.

The job is a payroll specialist and you can check out the full job description by clicking here.  This looks like a great opportunity if anyone is looking for a job or a change and has the skills needed.

Update! also received this one from Tracy Foster- here's her email:

we are looking for a part-time maintenance worker for Gross Alaska, Inc. They would need to have a license and working vehicle as it is for 2 buildings - 1 in valley and 1 downtown.

Mostly building maintenance and some applicances  - like popcorn poppers etc. hours are fairly flexible. would also be on call. If you know of anyone who might be interested let me know or have them call me at 586-3634.

Let me know if any questions. Thanks for your help in this!

Tracy

New Year, Renewed Focus

Hello everyone!

I've been writing several things on the news blog lately, and I'm thinking about making it a weekly address to bring things to your attention and bring some targeted encouragement to our church. Nothing too long, just some specific things I'm sensing or need to release to our local congregation as they come up.

The reason I'm writing this one is to have you go and listen to Sunday's message. It's a declaration of what I have been hearing and feeling for 2010.  If you were there, maybe you would like to listen again.  I believe this is so important to hear because the Father wants us all on the same page.  Click here to listen to that message.

You may be able to tell I hadn't preached in a couple weeks. I was pretty intense right out of the gate! I launch out and then everything sort of just keeps spilling out, but I really want you to listen to what the Spirit of God is saying to us.

Also one of the things I mentioned Sunday and want to challenge you again is to find some way to be in the Scriptures every day.  If you're highly organized you may be able to do this without the help of a reading plan, but for the rest of us, there's nothing wrong with a little help!

One great resource is youversion.com.  This is not only a way to search the Bible, but join a community and sign for all sorts of reading plans.  There's also a wonderful site called biblegateway.com that has lots of options.

Ask God what you need to do.  You don't necessarily need to read the entire Bible through, but we each need a new level of God's word (in understanding and revelation) and that takes some discipline.

Please: let's do this as a church. First go listen to Sunday's message then find a Bible reading plan that will work for you.  2010 will be a year of doing the impossible and I'm excited that we are doing it together.

Multiplied blessings,

Pastor Jason
